MVU offers flexible residential and commercial programs
RESIDENTIAL & COMMERCIAL PROGRAMS:
To help both residential and commercial customers who were financially impacted by the
pandemic, MVU moved quickly to adopt the following changes:
Suspended late fees
Suspended shutoffs
Eased requirements for Energy Bill Assistance Program
Offered flexible payment arrangements
Conducted personal phone calls to customers to offer assistance
MVU also postponed non-essential planned maintenance power outages to help those at
home from work or school.
During fiscal year 2019/2020, MVU helped customers save over 2 million kWh annually through
our very popular Residential Energy Audit and Direct Installation Program and Commercial
Lighting Program.
Although the Residential Energy Audit and Direct Installation Program targets very high energy
use customers and participants in the Energy Bill Assistance Program, this year the guidelines
were relaxed and the program was offered to any customer asking for assistance. The program
provides residential customers with a full in-home energy audit and specific recommendations
for their home plus a fixed set of energy efficiency upgrades, including a Nest thermostat, all
at no cost to the customer.
MVU also offers ENERGY STAR® appliance rebates, weatherization rebates, and rebates
for electric heat pump water heaters for customers who want to remove their natural gas
appliances.
MVU was able to provide over $50,000 in rebates to commercial customers for LED lighting
retrofit projects completed in fiscal year 2019-2020.
