Moreno Valley to Host 12th Annual Veterans Day Ceremony

Event will Include Remarks, Performances

For immediate release: November 5, 2019

The City of Moreno Valley and various community partners will pay tribute to American veterans at the City’s 12th annual Veterans Day Ceremony. Dr. Yxstian Gutierrez, Mayor of Moreno Valley, will preside over the Ceremony. City Councilwoman and 20-year Air Force veteran Dr. Carla J. Thornton will provide the keynote address.

"I am so proud that my hometown welcomes and values the brave men and women who have stepped forward to defend our people and our Constitution," said Mayor Gutierrez.

In addition to Councilwoman Thornton’s inspiring address, the Veterans Day Ceremony will feature:

  • The recognition of the 2019 Heroes for Heroes award winner.
  • The presentation of a proclamation recommitting Moreno Valley as a Purple Heart City.
  • A heartfelt performance by the Rancho Verde High School Choir.
  • Presentation of the colors and a special performance by the Moreno Valley High School AFJROTC Drill Team.
  • Remarks by other local officials.

The City will also collect items to support the mission of the Bob Hope USO Joint Regional Deployment Center on March Air Reserve Base. Supporting local bases of all branches, the Joint Regional Deployment Center is the hub that most troops deploying out of Southern California pass through on their way to conflict zones.
