Moreno Valley Mall Update
For immediate release: February 25, 2026
MORENO VALLEY, CA (February 25, 2026) -- MORENO VALLEY, CA (February 25, 2026) -- Of the nine Life Safety and Fire Protection violations that mandated the Fire Marshall and the Building Official to order the immediate closure of the Moreno Valley Mall, three have been corrected, resolved, and/or abated. These include the Mall’s Fire Sprinkler System, Fire Standpipe System, and Emergency Generator. This leaves just six more outstanding Life Safety and Fire Protection violations that must be corrected, resolved, and/or abated before the Mall may be allowed to reopen. Until and unless these remaining six (very critical) Life Safety and Fire Protection violations are resolved by the Mall Owner/Management, the Mall must remain closed to ensure that there is no risk of harm or death that may result from a Fire Emergency and Evacuation. The remaining pending violations include items related to the Mall’s Fire Alarm System, Smoke Control System, Fire Doors, Fire/Smoke Dampers, Emergency Lighting, and Emergency Exit Lighting.
The Office of the City Attorney has been in constant communication with the Mall’s recently retained attorneys who have been very helpful and cooperative with helping move this matter in the right direction, and the City Attorney has reassured the Mall’s legal counsel that the City remains committed to expeditiously processing any necessary permit applications, conducting any necessary inspections and providing any technical assistance so long as the Mall Owner/Management remains diligent in proceeding toward correcting, resolving and/or abating the remaining six Life Safety and Fire Protection violations.

MORENO VALLEY, CA (25 de febrero de 2026) -- De las nueve infracciones de seguridad y protección contra incendios que obligaron al Jefe de Bomberos y al Funcionario de Construcción a ordenar el cierre inmediato del Centro Comercial Moreno Valley, tres han sido corregidas, resueltas o eliminadas. Estas incluyen el sistema de rociadores contra incendios, el sistema de columnas de agua contra incendios y el generador de emergencia. Esto deja solo seis infracciones pendientes de seguridad y protección contra incendios que deben corregirse, resolverse o eliminarse antes de que el Centro Comercial pueda reabrir.
