Moreno Valley Honored for Efforts to Close the Digital Divide

The City of Moreno Valley is proud to be honored by the California Society of Municipal Finance Officers (CSMFO) with the Innovation Award for its CLiC initiative to close the digital divide.
The City created CLiC, which stands for Computer Learning and Internet Connectivity, to provide free internet access using the City’s WiFi hotspots, called WiFi Gardens, at various City facilities; public-use computers and mobile hotspots available at the City's three library branches; and a free, comprehensive virtual community portal filled with information to help build users' computer knowledge and skills, and links to low- or no-cost computers and internet service. CLIC was launched Oct. 1, 2020.
"We believe our entire community benefits as more and more residents are able to take advantage of 21st century technology," said Dr. Yxstian Gutierrez, Mayor of Moreno Valley. "We are especially proud to receive this recognition since we created CLiC in the middle of the pandemic."
CSMFO is presenting its Innovation Award for 2021 to Moreno Valley "for demonstrating innovative actions or ideas that enhance an existing process or solve a problem."

Moreno Valley fue Honrado por sus Esfuerzos para Cerrar la División Digital
La ciudad de Moreno Valley se enorgullece de ser honrada por la Sociedad de Oficiales de Finanzas Municipales de California (CSMFO) con el Premio de Innovación por su iniciativa CLiC para cerrar la división digital.
La ciudad creó el programa CLiC, que significa aprendizaje informático y conectividad a Internet, para proporcionar acceso gratuito a Internet utilizando los puntos de acceso WiFi de la ciudad, llamados WiFi Gardens, en varias instalaciones de la ciudad; computadoras de uso público y puntos de acceso móviles disponibles en las tres sucursales de la biblioteca de la Ciudad; y un portal comunitario virtual completo y gratuito lleno de información para ayudar a desarrollar el conocimiento y las habilidades informáticas de los usuarios, y enlaces a computadoras y servicios de Internet de bajo costo o sin costo.
