News Release

Dig Deeper: Read, Investigate, Discover!
with the Moreno Valley Public Library

Order Effective Overnight from 6 p.m., June 1, to 6 a.m., June 2

For immediate release: June 11, 2020

Moreno Valley – Deepen your understanding of the world with the Moreno Valley Public Library during the 2020 Summer Discovery program, “Dig Deeper: Read, Investigate, Discover!” Readers of all ages can sign up online at moval.library/mv-library/summerdiscovery and take part in a newly designed virtual summer reading challenge, looking at the worlds around us, over us, and inside ourselves. Registration begins with a "Groundbreaking" digital escape room on Saturday, June 13, with activities running through July 31, culminating with finale prize drawings on Saturday, August 1.

Digital badges will be awarded for completing challenges such as reading for pleasure and completing fun activities like having a screen-free day or listening to an audiobook. The more minutes you spend reading, the more points you accrue. Along with digital badges, participants can earn prize drawing tickets for gift cards. Every week the library will release new themed challenges.

“We’re grateful to the Moreno Valley Friends of the Library who make all of our programming possible, including our annual summer reading challenge,” Library Director Maria Sunio said. “Thanks to the Friends, one lucky reader from each age group -- pre-readers, kids, teens, and adults -- will win a $100 gift card.”
Understanding that many households cannot readily access the Library’s online program, the Library is partnering with Moreno Valley Unified School District to distribute activity kits during the summer meal distributions at the Main Library, Vista Heights Middle School, and Badger Springs Middle School.

Sign-up for "Dig Deeper" starting June 13 by visiting moval.org/mv-library. For additional information or to get help with registration, call the Main Library at 951.413.3880 or the Mall Branch 951.413.3761, message the Library on Facebook or email citylibrary@moval-library.org.
