Census 2020 Could Help Local Economic Recovery
Residents Urged to Take Advantage of Stay-at-Home Order to Complete Census Response

When the Covid-19 crisis eventually wains, it will leave a battered economy in its wake. The need for adequate federal funding support will be greater than ever. And one of the most important ways federal funding for Moreno Valley will be determined for the next 10 years is with data collected in the 2020 Census, which is taking place right now. That's why all residents should take advantage of the statewide stay-at-home order and take five minutes to complete the Census.
"All residents need to be counted to make sure our City gets its fair share of critically needed federal funding for the long-term," explained Dr. Yxstian Gutierrez, Mayor of Moreno Valley. "The Census is supposed to be completed in the month of April, so with almost everyone staying home right now, it's a perfect opportunity to go online and get it done."
The Census is being taken primarily online this time at www.census.gov, but it can also be completed by phone or on paper. It does not include any questions about citizenship or immigration status. And none of the personally identifiable information collected by the Census Bureau may be shared with any other government or private-sector entity, such as landlords.
