Non-Essential Businesses Ordered Closed
Essential Services to Remain Open
For immediate release: March 20 2020
Governor Gavin Newsom has issued a stay-at-home order for all Californians to establish consistency across the state in order to slow the spread of coronavirus.
“Public safety is our number-one priority,” stated Dr. Yxstian Gutierrez, Mayor of Moreno Valley. “We expect all residents to do the right thing and stay home as much as possible. By working together, we can slow the spread of this virus.”
Businesses providing essential services will remain open and include:
- Gas stations
- Pharmacies
- Food: Grocery stores, farmers markets, food banks, convenience stores, take-out and delivery restaurants
- Banks
- Laundromats/laundry services
Essential state and local government functions will also remain open, including law enforcement and emergency-response, though with restricted public access.
All other businesses are ordered by the Governor to do their part by temporarily closing, including:
- Dine-in restaurants
- Bars and nightclubs
- Entertainment venues
- Gyms and fitness studios
- Public events and gatherings
- Convention Centers
The Mayor encouraged families to take time to reconnect with loved ones through social media and the internet while we work to address the current issues facing our community.

Servicios esenciales permanecerán abiertos
El gobernador Gavin Newsom ha emitido una orden de quedarse en casa para que todos los residentes de California establezcan consistencia en todo el estado para disminuir la propagación del coronavirus.
"La seguridad pública es nuestra prioridad número uno," afirmó el Dr. Yxstian Gutiérrez, alcalde de Moreno Valley. “Esperamos que todos los residentes hagan lo correcto y se queden en casa tanto como sea posible. Al trabajar juntos, podemos retrasar la propagación de este virus.”
Las empresas que brindan servicios esenciales permanecerán abiertas incluyen:
- Gasolineras
- Farmacias
- Alimentos: supermercados, mercados de agricultores, bancos de alimentos, tiendas de conveniencia, restaurantes de comida para llevar.
- Bancos
- Lavanderías / servicios de lavandería
Las funciones esenciales del gobierno estatal y local también permanecerán abiertas, incluyendo departamentos que cumplen con la ley y la respuesta a emergencias, aunque con acceso público restringido.
El Gobernador ordena a todos los demás negocios que hagan su parte cerrando temporalmente, incluyendo:

- Eventos públicos y reunions
- Centros de convenciones
