City of Moreno Valley Wins
Recognition for Website, Jamfest Poster

The California Parks and Recreation Society (CPRS) has selected the City of Moreno Valley to receive Second Place Agency Showcase Awards for its web site and the poster publicizing the 1997 JamFest event. The CPRS Agency Showcase Awards honors California park, recreation and community service agencies for excellence in printed and audio/visual materials.

The statewide competition put Moreno Valley in the category of cities with populations of over 100,000. Parks and Recreation Director George Price said it was good to see the city's relatively young web site recognized. "We're thrilled, considering we just recently jumped onto the Information Superhighway with the city's parks and recreation information. We'll continue working to make our information more accessible to citizens."

The winning JamFest poster publicized the city's annual high school battle of the bands event. "We're also proud because the JamFest poster was designed by the city's Graphics Division. We were competing against commercially designed entries from much larger cities. I think the award speaks to the talent we have here in Moreno Valley," Price said.

Moreno Valley will be recognized at the CPRS Awards and Installation Banquet during the 50th Annual California Pacific Southwest Recreation and Park Conference in Long Beach on Saturday, March 14, 1998, at the Sheraton Hotel.
