Open, Accessible Abandoned Buildings
Abandoned buildings that are open and accessible not only cause blight in an area but can also pose a public health and safety hazard.
Abandoned buildings can become a place of residence to the homeless, drug dealers, and gang members if they are not properly boarded up. The main concerns are fires caused by those inhabiting the houses, violence, and improper disposal of human waste.
The Code and Neighborhood Services Division responds within 24 hours to any report of an open and accessible building.
